North Shore Titans

Coaches

Coaching is the single largest factor that sets North Shore Titans apart from other youth football programs. It is difficult to recruit and retain excellent youth football coaches. That is something we work very hard at. We have 45 coaches this season and they all must pass a mandatory background check and Pop Warner youth football training course. We have a 5 to 1 player to coach ratio. NSYF Coaches attend many clinics and training sessions annually to sharpen and improve their coaching skills. We also make it fun for the coaches and demand that the coaches in turn make it fun for the players.
Fred Miller who is a 14 year NFL veteran and former Chicago Bear (Tennessee Titans and St. Louis Rams with two Super Bowl rings) is the head of coaching operations and along with Mark Rice makes program coaching decisions. All teams train under the same practice regimen, philosophy and playbook. This is a carefully crafted system to be age appropriate and based on hundreds of hours of study, consultation, and research with collaboration of some of the finest football minds in the nation.

Along with these head coaches we have 37 additional assistant coaches that are assigned to individual teams. Each team will have 1 or 2 head coaches as well as several assistant coaches. Practices are broken down into position skills and the players have the opportunity to work with coaches from other teams on specific training methods on a specific skill, position and technique.

Additional trainers visit from time to time to help the boys on these specific skills such as QB trainers, Speed and Agility trainers, HS and college coaches... These include former NFL players and professional skills trainers.

A huge part of coaching is the life lessons we impart to the players and we have weekly character building lessons that the coaches help teach as well as awards. We also hold our coaches out to be role models and adhere to the Positive Coaching Alliance. -    www.positivecoach.org
